Healing Broken Hearts

Everyone in the world, at one time or another, will experience ill health. Some will have to endure pain for the rest of their lives. There is no way to avoid the pain completely, but we can find ways to cope, become stronger, and, eventually, to find peace.

Dealing with Pain

People who have endured severe and devastating illnesses do indeed feel as if their heart and soul has been crushed. They imagine their hearts crushed, the spirit squashed, and inevitably their lives begin to mimic their thoughts.

The art to overcoming hardship is to change the way you look at your life. Instead of seeing your heart crushed, look at it as if your heart has opened up to allow the pain to escape. As in draining an absess, you open the wound to heal, so too must you open your heart to heal.

When you feel your spirit is crushed and you no longer want to feel the emotions in your life, imagine your spirit cushioned in soft layers of a universal love. The love will keep your spirit safe from harm, allowing you to feel life again.

Allow yourself to say .. "I hurt, I feel bad, I hate my life." and dont feel guilty about it. Suppressing the guilt of "whining" or "venting" is why you feel like reality is crushing the life out of you. Remember, you have no reason to feel guilty. Once you admit to yourself it is okay to vent, the urge to vent will dissipate. It is a human trait to want to do what is not allowed. So if you give yourself permission to express anger, the feeling of "wanting to vent" will be to a lesser degree. Healing will begin.

If someone gets angry at you and abuses you verbally or cuts you off in traffic, try to control your anger by first controlling your breathing. Once your breathing is under control, you can proceed with a mind that is oxygenated and able to think more clearly. Lashing out in anger only begets more anger .. and in a person who is dealing with a severe illness, you dont need to be wasting your precious energy on anger.

Dealing with life is indeed hard if you have no discipline over your own emotions. Learning control will help you immensely in your quest for a better life. Loving yourself will assure the quest will be easier.
