To God Be the Glory

Dance with Me
Dancing in pairs swirling ‘round on the floor
like falling leaves caught in the wind.
Laughing and smiling with joy in their voice
ignoring those who stand by the wall.

Seen through glass doors, the air seemed filled with delight
as the lights played on the ceiling above.
But if you looked closer, you would see all the pain
on the faces of the ones by the wall.

Chorus:
Dance with me .. play with me .. talk with me now
so the pain doesn't enter my soul.
Dance with me .. play with me .. talk with me now
keep me out of the pit by the wall.

Talking in pairs walking out of the door
hand in hand they walked out into the night.
Kissing and smilin’ with love in their eyes
forgetting those who stood by the wall.

Under the stars, they walked out into the night
as the moon shown her light on their love.
But if you looked back, you’d see the ones left inside
standing deep in their pain by the wall.

Follow Your Dreams

She waits in the window of a coffee shop ..

waiting for the other shoe to drop ... on her life.

Her job is ending and her kids are grown.

Her old man left her long ago ..

now what was she gonna do ... with her life.

Follow your dreams ..
take up the chase
of rainbows in the sky ..
and follow .... follow your dreams.

She packs up her life in a cardboard box ..
gets out her guitar from long ago ... in her life.
Strumming out a tune hiding in her head,
she goes with friends from long ago ..
singing songs in a smoky bar .. about life.

Follow your dreams ..
take up the chase
of rainbows in the sky ..
and follow .... follow your dreams.

Now she has a new life that is all her own
singing her songs ‘cross the country now .. is her life.
Riding touring buses and big old planes
leaving behind her life of woe ..
being on the road is the way she loves her life.

Freely Given

Close your eyes and drift away

as you seek to find the beauty

in the smallest of gifts that the Lord has to give.

Close your eyes and look above

into the brightness of the sun

let it heal all the pains lying deep in your heart.

Chorus:
Close your eyes and take His love
for His love is freely given
close your eyes and bow your head at the feet of the Lord.

Give your heart unto the Lord
let Him shoulder all your troubles
He is strong enough to carry them all just for you.
So feather light you will feel
when you give Him all your troubles
as you walk with Him close by your side and your heart.

Catching the Drift

Sitting in the middle of the night

searching for just the right song.

I’ll write the words to keep up the rhythm,

you catch the notes as they fly through the air

Smiling and laughing in the night
writing new songs for us to sing.
Smiling and laughing in the night
waiting to see what midnight brings.

Music to rock your soul
Music to dry your tears
Music is the gift that no one returns
So sing these words, they are my gift to you.

Don’t let the words get lost
as I hunt for just the right phrase.
Match up the music to please the soul
to keep you singing strong long into the night.

Jammin’ till the fingers hurt,
hunting for the right melody.
Head a spinning from all the words
taking it slow and going for more.

We’ll sing till the morning comes
and play till the night comes nigh.
Catching the drift of notes on the wind
together .. a pair .. we’ll make history.

Waiting at the Station

Sitting at the counter .. waiting on the train

joking with the man behind the bar.

Fending off the woman in the low cut dress

waiting for his wife to come home on the train.

Counting up the days that they have been apart,
days have turned to years inside his mind.
Thinking of her hair and her ruby red lips,
thinking of her kisses .. kept love in his heart.

Waiting at the station .. looking down the line
Here she comes .. the train is right on time.
Running to her side, he spins her off her feet
Kissing those red lips, sweet as mulberry wine.

Chorus:
Don't need no other love
Don't need no other girl
the five o'clock is bringing what I need.
Don't need no other love

Oh I'm wishing that that train would gain some speed.

She Waits
Dedicated to David Carey whose words inspired the ending for this song.

She waits on the seashore for her only true love

As waves whisper good morning to a snowy white dove

Soft sunlight reflects from the dew on the grass

Sending prisms of color 'round this Irish lass.

Come back to me sweet one
Come back to my heart
For many a day now, we've been too long apart.
Come back to me sweet one
Come back to your home
Stay here safe in my arms, n'er again shall you roam.

She waits by the sea wall for her love to come
As the day passes o’er her, she decides to succumb
To the truth of the moment as she waits in the frost
Her true love has traveled too far and is lost.

She slips into the darkness, so soft and so sweet
Into a time where the two gladly meet
They now share their true love, forever and more
N’er parting forever in the dark by the shore.
